Introduction New York State has many brownfield sites, which are previously built upon or as opposed to green field land. In Brownfield land areas sites are highly contaminated and have severely high concentrations of hazardous waste and pollution. Brownfields are similar to superfund sites, which superfund sites require long-term response to clean up hazardous material contaminations. Superfund sites are deep threat or danger to the public, they are irreversible to the public health and environment. Objective The Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Site Program for New York State involves the identification, investigation, clean-up, and monitoring process stages. I propose to highlight the stages and processes that the state employs to investigate and categorize hazardous waste sites and to determine remediation.
